A prosecutor in Knoxville, Tennessee got the boot for some pretty questionable social media behavior. Charme Allen, the District Attorney General of Knox County, decided to let go of Assistant District Attorney Berkley Mason because of his alleged online shenanigans. According to reports, he was all about praising Nazis and throwing shade at Black folks and immigrants. Not a good look, Berkley.
The whole shebang started when someone dug up some of Mason’s posts on X, previously known as Twitter. Apparently, the guy was posting some pretty racist and sexist stuff under the username “Southern Appalacholic.” And we’re not talking about your run-of-the-mill political opinions here. Oh no, his posts went as far as endorsing Nazism, talking about offing migrants, and blaming Black people for all of America’s problems. Yikes.
Allen wasn’t having any of it. She straight-up said that Mason’s online antics made her lose faith in his ability to do his job fairly and justly. And you know what? She fired him on the spot. But wait, there’s more. She’s even ordering a review of all the cases Mason worked on to make sure everything was on the up and up. Now that’s what I call cleaning house.
