Ministers are expected to announce an overview of this laws underpinning the prosecution of terrorism and organised crime offences from the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee is now looking for approval from her Cabinet colleagues for the organization of a committee to examine the legislation, based on RTÉ News.

An overview was among those recommendations Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland (CFP) and a scoping exercise started last summer soon after the laws have been revived.

Sections 2 to 6, 4 to 12, 14 and 17 of those Offences against the State (Amendment) Act 1998 and section 8 of those Criminal Justice (Amendment) Act 2009 were extended for one more year within hours of the expiration on account of the protracted discussions to set up a government.
